1976, Rev. James D. Tindall was appointed the sixth pastor of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ. James Dennis Tindall was one of twelve children born to Wallace and Lottie Tindall. He was born June 6, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended, W. W. Yates Elementary School and graduated from Manual High School in 1960. He attended University of Missouri-Kansas City, Carver Bible Institute and Western Baptist Bible College, has a BA degree in journalism and a BS degree in theology.
As a youngster he would often attend the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ with his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Rowe. Later he became a member of the Leviticus Singers under the direction of Mr. Simon Payne.
He met and married Ms. Frances Smith. He is the father of six beautiful children; Janie, Tina, Shelia, James Dennis, Cheryl, James Dennis, III. and the grandfather of 14.
Before he became pastor he was a Sunday School teacher, bible class student, trustee, and business manager for the Voices of Exodus.
Knowing and believing that God has a master plan for his life, he attended broadcasting school and shortly after became a radio announcer in charge of Gospel music for radio station KPRS.
He was called to the ministry, and ordained in July, 1976 by Rev. Clarence H. Cobbs, in Chicago, Illinois. During this time, he was appointed pastor of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, by Rev Cobbs, with what was supposed to have been a six month probationary period. After two short months, Rev. Cobbs installed Rev. Tindall as permanent pastor of the Mother Church. This was on Friday night, September 24, 1976 during the climate of the churches Fifty-First Anniversary services.
Rev. Tindall’s life epitomizes the bible verse: Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is rewarded of them that diligently seek him.
Rev. Dr. James D. Tindall Sr. was appointed National Overseer of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Inc, and on Friday, November 8, 1996 was elevated to the Sacred Order of Bishop.
Bishop Tindall, sees his role in the community as that of a helping hand, always striving to seek out those who are deemed less fortunate. Working in the best interest of those whom he serves; in the church, socially and politically, he remains a persistent advocate of social justice.

2009 Elevated as the International Presiding Prelate of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Inc.
