The Affirmation
My Mind, Is My Mind, I use my mind to seek divine assistance in all my decisions and endeavors. St Matthews 6:33 My Mind, Is My Mind. No material mind can control my mind. I make my conditions and situations. I am not conformed to this world. I transform my mind to create in me a clean heart and a right spirit. Psalm 51:10 and Romans 12:2 I am determined to "Let go and let God". I am striving each day that the "Christ Mind" will be my mind.

You have the power to manifest what you speak.
An affirmation is to affirm a given statement over and over, until it Is part of your believing and knowking (your mind). This afflrmation is to be recited, in Jesus' name, during the prayer hours at 12, 3, 6, and 9.

Dr. George E. Kennard, M.D.,D.D., PhD.

Founder the Medico, Chirurgical and Theological College of Christ Institution in Baltimore, Maryland 1885. He was Dr. Bessie L. Hall pastor. Star of Bethlehem was born under his leadership.

Bishop Thomas A Hall, husband of our founder became the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical body. The Interdenominational Ministers Council and United Church of Christ, Inc. (of America)

INFORMATION ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Due to circumstances we are unable to give you a complete History.

Dr. Bessie Hall was born in Port Royal, VA, on February 14, 1886, of the Rappahannock Indian heritage. Dr Hall was the granddaughter of a great warrior, Chief Wool Foot Johnson, who was the chief of his tribe.

In the year of 1922, Dr. Bessie Hall received her Divine call to the ministry after a lengthy illness. At this time, she was attending Christ Institute, pastored by the late Dr. Henry Kennard. On October 14th, 1922 thru a Divine Revelation she was given the name of the church, The Star of Bethlehem Spiritual Temple.

That night she organized the Temple with three persons present at her home located 323 E. 23rd Street. The late Mrs. Mary Diggs, Mrs. Dollie Madison and her childhood friend Mrs. Amanda Foote. The church was incorporated in 1923. The Temple grew so that another building was rented in the 1000 block of Stricker St., remaining there several years, then purchasing the property at 710 N. Gilmore St. and lived there for 16 years.

June 21st 1955, the ground in her yard was broken for the new Temple at 1109-11 W. Lanvale St. our present home. The building was completed August 30th, 1955. The dedication and anniversary was held Sunday October 16th, 1955. The church is interdenominational and interracial. Our church was and still maintain some of the doctrines of the early church. It was founded on Divine Healing and Prophecy thru the work of our late Pastor Dr. Bessie L. Hall. The Star of Bethlehem Spiritual Temple became internationally known thru her ministry in the field of Prophecy and Divine Healing.

Dr. Hall transformed out of this life on Sept. 15th, 1961. The church Assistant Minister, Rev. Anna Williams carried the church through these dark moments with the assistance of our church mothers, Mrs. Julia W. Smith and Mrs. Bertha Washington.

The church was without a pastor until March 15th, 1966, when they called one of the new members who joined the church in October of 1965, the Rev. William E. Hamilton, 27 years of age.

In January 1973 the church joined the North Eastern Regional Council of Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, under the leadership of council President Rev. Wilbert Brockington. For a number of years the church was with the Christ Institute, under the leadership of Dr. Hall's late husband Archbishop Thomas Hall. She brought the church out and became independent and the church has not been associated with any other organization until this year.

In April of 1973 the church sent the Pastor and Acolyte Michael Hope to Akron, Ohio to the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Churches where he was accepted as a member, the church was also accepted. It was said that in the history of Metropolitan that a minister was never accepted like our Pastor was. He was given opportunity to preach on the same night.
