Rev. Larry H. Williams, Pastor
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
- Psalm 91:9
Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it. . .
Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman
waketh but in vain." Psalm 127:1

On September 22, 1964, Rev. Arthur L. Posey asked a group of
friends to join him in a Sunday evening service in his home. While praying and meditating with the spirit of God, the
Lord spoke to him and said, "Stand on thy own feet."
Rev. Posey, straightway, returned to his former church home, The Alpha and Omega Church, and requested his pastor,
the late Rev. Zola Robinson, to release him. She responded graciously. On October 4, at 6:00 p.m., the first service
was held in Rev. Posey's home with sixteen souls added to God's house.
On October 16 the first business meeting was held and this ecclesiastical organization chose for its name The Temple of
St. Jude. Thus, the members embarked on the course of peace, love and righteousness.
In November 1964, at the Annual Board Meeting of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Incorporated, this
Church was accepted as a full member of the board.
Services were held regularly in the home of Rev. Posey with the idea that eventually a permanent home would be found.
With many souls, uniting in Christ, more space was necessary for housing. The permanent home site would be located on
a lot purchased by the group at the corner of Linwood and Leslie for Kingdom building. But before this dream could
become a reality it was necessary that we move to 12020 Dexter at Elmhurst. It was at this location we began a Radio
Ministry over station WGPR-FM. This broadcast blessed many souls and encouraged countless hearts.
In 1967 we purchased a building at Yellowstone and Collingwood Streets for a Church home but were led of God to sell
that property and purchase a building at Tuxedo and Hamilton Avenue, Highland Park, Michigan. Due to the Urban Renewal,
we purchased our present edifice at 8747 Fenkell at Indiana on November 2, 1972.
Our Church is dedicated to the Glory of God and the Love of JESUS CHRIST. It is founded upon these
Principles:
1. To establish and maintain a place of worship
2. A school of Religious Study and Understanding
3. Social Initiative
4. Personal Prosperity
5. Love for our Fellow-Man
"We the Temple of St. Jude, pledge to keep the light of God
high and in addition, to be shelter of wayward
souls."
