Mr. Joseph Alvin Young was born on August 21, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas to the union of the late Eddie and Mattie Dobbins Young. He was the sixth child. He received his formal education in the Kansas City area, graduating from Sumner High School, class of 1945. He united in Holy Matrimony with Levenia Cowlings on November 26, 1955. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Mason Memorial Methodist Church and later placed his membership and fellowship at Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, formerly and faithfully serving on the Trustee Board and as a member of the Chorus. Alvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II, honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He was employed by the City; Broadway Bridge Stopping only when his health failed. Alvin was a dedicated son, husband, brother, uncle and friend. Love and togetherness for the family was truly a gift of God. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Levenia Young of the home; brothers, Edward Young of Oklahoma City, and Robert Young of the City; sisters, Helen I. Gee and Bess M. Williams, Kansas, and Erma J. Cain, El Paso, Texas; 14 nephews and nieces, and a host of relatives and friends.
