Mr. Eddie Penn White was born in Ozan, Arkansas, July 9,1902 to the union of Rich and Sarah Bishop White. Mr. White came to know Kansas City as home after moving here in 1928. He worked for forty years as a construction laborer and retired in 1973. He was a member of Local 264 A.F.L.-C.I.O. Mr. White joined the Metropolitan Spiritual Church in 1944 and joined the usher board where he served until his illness several months ago. He was married to the former Ruby Sykes in June of 1953. There were no children born of this union, but Mr. White became "Pop" to the Sykes children. Beside his wife/Ruby, his survivors are: one son, Eddie P. White, Jr., Flint, Michigan; five stepsons, Richard, Elvin and Melvin, William and Clifford Sykes, all of Kansas City, Missouri, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Lois M. Finney of Chicago, Illinois and a host of grandchildren. Mr. White's parents and sister preceded him in death.
