Mr. West received his formal education in Lexington, Missouri. At the age of 18, he accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour and joined the Second Baptist Church in Lexington, Missouri, under the leadership of Rev. Jenkins.

In 1911, he came to Kansas City and in 1914 he met his wife, Estella Flerry, and they were married on May 24, 1919. For many years, Mr. West was employed by the Packing Plant, later working at Lake City Plant. He also worked as a Professional Cook.

He and his wife joined Metropolitan Spiritual Church in 1931, under the leadership of Bishop William F. Taylor and was assigned to the Usher Board, later becoming its President. Mr. West served under six ministers at Metropolitan; *Bishop William F. Taylor, *Rev. L.L. Boswell, *Rev. William B. Hurse, *Rev. Henri Lawson, *Rev. Calvin E. Phillips, and *Rev. James D. Tindall.

Several years ago, Mr. West retired as its President serving for over 30 years. But he still remained a member of the Usher Board.
