Mrs. Ella Louise Tindall was bom on February 19, 1944 to Medrick Smith
and Cornelia Fisher. Her journey through life was completed on Monday, June 19, 2006.
A native Kansas Citian, she was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public
School System, where she attended R.T. Coles Elementary and Manual High Schools.
She was a graduate of Moler, Barber College in 1968 and completed her apprenticeship
at Foster Barber Shop. Ella was employed as a bus driver with the Kansas City
Area Transportation Authority and served in other positions such as Temporary
Road Supervisor, Operator Instructor and Bus Security until her retirement in
March of 1996. Ella was selected to do a video with Kenny Rogers called "Working
Women of America", so she was labeled a 'Distinguished Driver.'
An avid believer, Ella loved to sing and was a member of several gospel choirs,
The Leviticus Singers, The McClellan-Akers Singers, The Wilma McClellan
Singers and the Voices of Bethel. She was a member of the Sycamore Groves
Senior Citizens group.
She was united in marriage to James D. Tindall, Sr. on September 20, 1960.
Four children were bom to this union.
Her parents and a brother, Royce L. Fisher preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Jane R. Barrett of Kansas City,
MO; Tina L. Tindall of New Hope, MN; Sheila A. Thomas of Arlington, TX and James D.
Tindall, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Virgil Fisher, Jr.;
four sisters, Gladys Williams, Dennetta Fisher, Debra Fisher and Patricia Sawyer;
nine grandchildren, Harry G. Barrett, Jr., Kevin L. Barrett, Jamel A. Thompson,
Kila L. Thomas, Jamie D. Tindall, Renae A. Tindall, James D. Tindall, III, Akia
Fritz and Jimiah Tindall; one son-in-law, Lawrence Thomas; one brother-in-law,
Michael Sawyer; three godsons, Willard Thomas, Terrence Gillians and Lawrence
Horton; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of
other relatives and friends; five very special friends, Beulah Roberts, Susie
Hopkins, Oleta Adams Cushon, Mozelle Moore and Dora Benson (care giver).
