Words of Reflection

Beverly Ann Ewing Thompson was born on July 2, 1927 in Rosedale, Kansas, to the union of William Sr. and Daisy Webb Ewing. She was second of four children. In the early 1930's the famiily moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Educated in Kansas City Missouri Public School System, Beverly was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1945 (where she was voted "best dressed") and received an Associates Degree from Lincoln Junior College.

Beverly met and married the love of her life, Elbert "Moody" Thompson, Sr. They were the parents of four children. In 1979, Beverly and her family joined the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, under the leadership of Bishop James D. Tindall Sr.

She loved The Lord, her Pastor, church family and Tuesday night Bible Study. She was a faithful member and served on the Usher Board for over 30 years. As an Usher, Beverly lived the scripture, "I had rather to be a door keeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness." Beverly retired from the Kansas City Missouri School District, after many years of dedicated service.

A classy lady, spry, fit as a fiddle, a woman on the go, Beverly will always be remembered as a caring and loving person and the strength of her family.

Beverly was preceded in transition by her husband, one son, Elbert Thompson, Jr., her parents, and two brothers William, Jr. and Charles Ewing.

On January 27,2010 Beverly was ushered into God's eternal presence, where she is safe in His arms.

She leaves to cherish her memory and rejoice in her "home going" her devoted children; son, William Gregory Poole, two daughters, Debra Porter (Albert) and Yolanda Thompson-Martin (Chris), ten grandchilldren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, one sister, Jewel M. Webster and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and her beloved Metropolitan Church Family.
