CELEBRATION OF LIFE
Artris Phillips, Jr., 56, was born on September 29, 1947 to the union of Artris and Watie
Phillips in Kansas City, Missouri. Both parents, two brothers, Howard Moore and Radford
Moore, and a sister, Anna Mae Alford all preceded him in death.
Artris was a lifelong area resident and attended the public schools of Kansas City.
He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Glamour Tress Beauty School under the
instruction of Robert E. Nigro. He graduated with honors. He was a licensed cosmetologist
and was the owner of Salon Artris for many years and had established a good clientele
until his health began to fail.
Artris was a member of the Grace Spiritual Temple Church under the leadership of
Bishop Charles N. Slayton.
He was a good friend to many and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Artris was a great contributor to many charitable organizations and was recently a
volunteer at The Helping Hands of Goodwill Industries. In all that he did, he lived life to its fullest.
He departed this earthly life for his heavenly home on Friday, April 16, 2004 at the Research Medical Center.
He leaves to forever cherish his memory, one brother, Proctor L. Moore, Sr., Kansas City, MO;
three special nieces, Sheila Moore and Jan Moore, Kansas City, MO, Dorothea Momon (Ritchie),
Lee's Summit, MO, a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends, as well as, life
long friends, Thomas Johnson, Bertha Denmon, and Mary Craddock, Kansas City, MO; Don Jones,
Manhattan, NY.
