Mrs. E. Leurlean Pennington was born May 4, 1900 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Joseph D. Monroe and Nellie L. Snowden. She was the second of four children, all of whom preceded her in death.

Leurlean was united in marriage in 1919 to Oliver H. Pennington in Kansas City, Kansas. To this union three children were born; Florene Frazier, Francis Rose and Harold Oliver Perrnington.

Leurlean was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas School System. She was employed as a housekeeper until her retirement. After retirement she worked part time as a Library Assistant for the Clymer Neighborhood Center where she continued to work until her recent illness.

Leurlean was a faithful and devoted servant to her church, the Metropolitan Spiritual Church Of Christ for over 65 years. She was a member of the senior choir for over 60 years and also taught Sunday School for many years. Leurlean's life was centered around her church which she loved dearly.

Leurlean departed this life on Monday, January 16, 1995 at the Glennon Place Care Center.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Mrs. Florene F. O'Neal of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Diane Grider of Los Angeles, California; Pete O'Neal of Tanzania, East Africa; Patricia Williams of Chesterfield, Missouri; Gary O'Neal of Tanzania, East Africa; Gayle O'Neal of Columbia, Maryland; Janice High of Kansas City, Missouri, and Brian O'Neal of Kansas City, Missouri; 37 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
