Words of Reflection

Rev. Maxine Alberta Parker Winn, 55, of Kansas City, Missouri departed this life July 23, 1989 in St. Louis, MO. She was born in Sedalia, MO and had resided in the Kansas City area 43 years. She received her education at Lincoln Elementary School and Hubbard High School in Sedalia, MO.

At an early age she was a member of Ward Memorial Baptist Church in Sedalia, MO. She retired from Lane Bryant after 25 years of service. She was a Social Worker for the United Inner City Services at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 1101 Euclid.

Maxine united with the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ in 1951 under the pastorate of Rev. William Hurst. She was a member of the Trustee Board, the Minister's Board and the Pastor's Aid Board. She was also a member of the Adult Choir and the Mass Choir. She was former superintendant of the Youth Department and a Sunday School Teacher. Her father and one son preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn: her husband, James R. Winn of the home; two sons, Rev. Russell Hill of Oakland, CA and Jack Harrison of the city; two daughters, Marietta Harrison and Bridgett Renee' Harrison of the city; her mother, Inez B. Stewart of the city; one brother, Tony Parker of the city; one sister Jeanette Whitney of the city; 10 grandchildren; one uncle, two aunts, several cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
