O b i t u a r y

Ethel L. McGee Holden was born December 4, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ethel May McGee and Aaron Walter McGee. They were entrusted by God to be the first teachers of her Christian education.

She attended Wendell Philips and R. T. Coles schools, here in Kansas City, Missouri and later continued her secular and scholar education at Lincoln High Vocational School.

Mother Holden accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, at a very young age. In 1968 she relocated to Chicago, Illinois and united with the Trinity Tower Spiritual Church were she was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.

After answering the call of Almighty God to the ministry, she was ordained December 14, 1969 at the St. Jude National Congress under Bishop J. B. LaDett and Rev. B. L. Knighton. While continuing in the ministry of the Word of God, she also sang and traveled throughout the United States with various gospel groups for more than 30 years.

Upon returning to Kansas City she united with the New Jerusalem Spiritual on February 13, 1977. At this juncture she served as the assistant pastor under Chief Apostle N. A. Jones, Pastor of New Jerusalem Spiritual Church.

She was united in matrimony with Brother Clyde Holden on August 6, 1981.

In 1998 she became a member of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, under the leadership of Bishop James D. Tindall, Sr., where her ministry continues. She was re-ordained on March 29, 2002, at the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, Kansas City, Missouri.

She leaves in lasting memory her husband Rev. Clyde Holden, Little Rock, AR, one step-son, David Clark of Kansas City, Daughter-in-law Vera Clark of Las Vegas, NV, an a adopted son Elder Trent Hudson, an a adopted daughter Clarissa Jones, the spiritual mother to Robert J. Mintz, Rev. James Alaxander, Rev. Leatha Holliday, and Rev. Charlie Lott, all of Kansas City. The grandmother of seven. Rev. Holden. was also a spiritual mother and grandmother to a host of other children that God has blessed into her life.

Her favorite scripture is Roman 1:16:
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
