"Oh Lord, My God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the world, Thy hands have made ... Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee, HOW GREAT THOU ART—HOW GREAT THOU ART"

The sun has set on the earthly journey of BROTHER RUFUS EDGAR MILLER, his spirit is now soaring through eternal bliss. Rufus was bom to the union of Pearl and Luther Miller, December 13, 1930 in Little Rock, Arkansas. After coming to Kansas City, Missouri with his family, he attended W. W. Yates Elementary School, and Lincoln High School. After graduation he attended Arkansas A, M & N College in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

He worked for 18 years as a dental technician for the firm of Webb & Clee, located on the Country Club Plaza. He worked 5 years in the circulation department of the Kansas City Star Newspaper, and most recently as an Emergency Assistance Clerk for St. Marks' Church.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Church of God in Christ. While a member of the COGIC, he directed the Western Missouri State Choir and was known extensively for his command of the choir and his flair in directing. He was founder and director of the Kansas City Community Choir. For the past twenty-two years Brother Miller was a member in good standing of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ and served faithfully in the following capacities: Church clerk, Sunday School teacher, Trustee, member of the Federated Board, member of the Inspiritional Community Choir, Senior director in the Music Department, Director of the Adult Choir and Male Chorus, and a member of the Metropolitan Players. Brother Miller was known through the country for his fine acting ability, his scholarly knowledge of the Bible, and his extraordinary ability to articulate exquisite vocabulary in his narrations. He is best remembered for his rendition of "HOW GREAT THOU ART", accompanied by Madame Helen Reed.

Brother Miller will be missed physically, but his spirit will always live in the musical tradition of the church. To cherish his memory he leaves his mother. Mother Pearl Miller; sisters, Mrs. Noleene Neal, Ms. Mary Gibbs, and Mrs. Billie Jean Petty, a host of cousins and the entire Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ and Progressive Church of God in Christ families.
