Words of Reflection

Mr. James Johnson " J. J." was born October 27,1923 in Terrell, Texas the nineth of eleven children born to the union of Lorenzo D. Johnson and Sara McDonald Johnson.

J. J. received his early education in Terrell, Arkansas. He was an veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II.

He united in marriage to Jessie Mae Sorrells in 1947, and to this union eight children were born.

He attended Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ.

J. J. was employed with Tension Envelope Co. retiring in 1985 after thirty years of service. He was a member of Machinist local union 23 5 AFL-CIO.

He departed this life Tuesday, March 17, 1998 at the home, both parents, four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Johnson leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of fifty years, Jessie M. Johnson of the home; three sons, Gregory Johnson, Michael Johnson and Kevin Johnson of the city; five daughters, Sara Scott (Robert Scott), Janet Wallace, Paula Hart, Karen Johnson and Pamela Johnson all of the city; two sisters, Mrs. Roean Howell and Pauline Johnson both of Dallas, Texas; twenty-one grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a mother-in-law, Mrs. Jannie B. Rollins of the city; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
