Dorothy Mae James was born on September 23, 1921 to Abner Mackim and Bessie Mae Baucom in Kansas City, Missouri. She was educated in the Kansas City School District. Dorothy met Charles James and they were united in marriage. Charles preceded her in death. She was a member of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, where she served on the Usher Board until her health failed. Her mother and father, Bessie and Abner; her sister, Ernestine Cobb; her brothers, Albert and Oretha Mackim; and nephew, Ricky McCree, all preceded her in death. Dorothy Mae James passed away March 21, 2000, at the home. She leaves to mourn her passing: her son, Kenneth James; daughter, Sandra James; one granddaughter, Shanik qua James, all of the home; a host of other relatives and friends.
