Mrs. Lottie Mae Herndon was born on August 24, 1918 to the union of Fred and Itaska Inghram in Denison, Texas.

She attended public schools in Dension, Texas and Arkansas City, Arkansas. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she became a member of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ. She served on the Usher Board for twenty-five years.

In 1951, she united into marriage to Thomas J. Herndon, to this union no children were born. She enrolled at the Madam C. J. Walker's School of Cosmetology under the leadership of Miss Roberta Aikens. After graduating, she opened her own beauty salon, which she operated from the basement of her home. Mrs. Lottie Herndon was also member of the 24th. Street Neighborhood Club of which she was the president for several years. She gave picnics for the children in her neighborhood annually. She loved gardening, crocheting and her pets. She united with Universal Spiritual Church on March 7, 1976 under the pastorate of Rev. Calvin Phillips. She attended Bible Study and was a member of the Senior Usher Board, Prayer Board and the Mother's Board. She later reunited with Metropolitan Spiritual Church Of Christ in 1997. She was a member of the Mother's Board. She was a faithful member until her illness prevented her to attend. She was a devoted wife, sister-in-law and godmother. Mrs. Lottie Herndon departed this life Monday, October 2,2000 at Vencor Hospital. Her parents, her husband, her brother, Fred Jr. preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory; her God daughter, Denise Ramsey of Overland Park, Kansas; her niece, Margaret West of Houston, Texas; foster brother, James Hardy, Rio Alto, California her cousin, Wilbur Witliams of San Jose, California; Bishop James D. Tindall and church family and Tiger Too.
