Doris Curlett-Wright was born on October 6, 1947, to Bennie and Ruth Marie Hicks.
She attended school in Brinkley, Arkansas. She received a cosmetology license in Pine
Bluff, Arkansas and an Associate Degree in Early Childhood.
Doris was united in marriage to James Curlett in 1965. To this union two daughters
were born, Jacquelyn M. Curlett and Stephanie D. Curlett. Stephanie preceded her in death.
She accepted Christ at an early age and at her passing a member of Metropolitan Spiritual
Church where she served as a faithful member of the choir.
She worked for thirty years at Economic Opportunity Foundation until her health
failed her as a Center Coordinator.
Doris leaves to rejoice in her homegoing: her mother, Ruth Hicks of Brinkley,
Arkansas; one daughter, Jacquelyn M. Curlett of Kansas City, Kansas; father of
Jacquelyn, James Curlett of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Marilyn Hicks of Brinkley,
Arkansas and Trecia (Donald) McKinney of Kansas City, Kansas; one brother,
Bennie R. Hicks of Dallas, Texas; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
