Lonnie Chestnut was born October 27, 1965, to Edgar Chestnut, Jr. and Gwendolyn Harris Chestnut.

He attended the public schools of the Hickman Mills district before moving to Phoenix, Arizona, where he attended Cartwright Elementary School and Maryvale High School. He played varsity football at Maryvale and received All-State Champion honors. Following his graduation the family returned to Kansas City where he attended Kansas City, Kansas Community College.

He became employed at the Kansas City Star in 1987 and remained in that employment until his death.

He married Jeanette Pastiran, the love of his life.

He remained a member of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, where he was christened by the Rev. Henri Lawson.

His Godparents, Gilbert Harris and Pearl Robinson preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of the home; his mother, Gwendolyn Harris Chestnut; his brother, Randal L. Chestnut (Tamara); uncles, Robert L. Harris (Maxine), and Jon Harris (Helen); aunts, Jolene Harris of Topeka, and Rosalind Harris, Michelle Williams, and Eddis Sayles of Kansas City, KS; a niece, Tracy Millbrooks; cousins, Ronald Harris, Gwynne Harris, Carla Harris, Sharla Gilliam, Shaunte Banks, Tony Gilliam, Robin Harris, Ricquisha N. Campbell, Leitha Sayles Hill, Egenia Sayles, Kim Watkins (Ben) Vivareen Sayles, Helen Coleman, Tommy Chestnut (Mary Louise), Stacey Watson (Marvin), Christopher Chestnut, and Kyra Harris; long-time loving friends, Heidi Balderas of Phoenix, AZ; Tim Rainey, Brian Lawson, and Steve Hampton, of Kansas City; co-workers at the Kansas City Star; and a host of other relatives and friends who survive and mourn his loss.
