Mrs. Evelyn Boykins was born September 18, 1915 in lola,Kansas to the union of George Willie and Lillian Bass Lucas. She was the first of two children. She was raised by her Uncle Robert and Aunt Nan Gordon.

She attended school in the Kansas City, Missouri School District.

She was united in marriage to George Boykins in 1974.

Mrs. Boykins joined the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ in 1938 under Bishop William Taylor and Elder Leviticus Boswell. Sister Boykins sang in the choir and was a member of the Trustee Board.

She was a Salesperson at Zeff Distribution Company for many years and was with Reverend Nelson Thompson of the SCLC.

Mrs. Evelyn Boykins, 87, died on Friday, Feburary 14, 2003 at the home.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her husband, Mr. George Boykins of the home; brother, George Bass Lucas; her adopted son and daughter, Ivory Jr. and June Eileen Terry, who she lived with at her time of death. Mrs. Boykins also leaves her aunt, Dollye Bass; cousins, I.G. and Vivian Terry, Charles and Rosetta Smith, Nannetta Nash, Pearl Hishaw all of Kansas City, MO; Phyllis Bass, Dr. Elliott and Beverly Bass and family all of Leavenworth, KS; Dr. Lewis Naiper, Nadine Bass both of Shawnee Mission, KS; Johnny and Dionne Bass and family of St. Louis, MO; John and Rosemary Bass of lola, KS; Roscoe and Zeola Bass and Nadine Bass of Seattle, WA; Perry and Harriett Thomas of Seattle, WA; Ralph and Christie Bass and family of lola, KS; Wendell and Angela Bass and family of San Diego, CA; Jay and Barbara Bass and family of Lemon Grove, CA; a nephew, Roy Boykins of Chicago, IL; two nieces, Doretha Boykins and Ceola Boykins of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Rose Martin, James Robert, Paul Robert, Demitra Terry and Shawnta Cole.
