1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. READ,
STUDY, LEARN, COMPARE, CHALLENGE.
John
21:24-25 This is the disciple which testifieth of
these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which
Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even
the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
The Rebellion and Fall of Lucifer
The Archangel Lucifer
The Scriptures
tell us of three archangels. The first, Michael, always seems to be in the
presence of God. He protects Israel, the Jewish people. The second archangel,
Gabriel, always seems to be the messenger of God. The third, Lucifer, is known
today as Satan, the devil, the enemy of God and the church.
The High Position of Lucifer
Lucifer had a
high position in heaven before he became Satan. He was involved in the
pre-Adamic destruction of this earth and his actions caused the judgment on the
earth between Genesis 1, verses 1 and 2. We will see his former position and
what really happened to one of God's mightiest creatures. Go to Ezekiel. 28:12 "Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the King of Tyre, and say unto
him. Thus saith the Lord God. "
According
to history we know no King of Tyre. This speaks of Lucifer, the one who became
Satan, the devil, "Thou
sealest up the sun, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty."
Lucifer
was full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. The following verse 13 speaks of his
position in heaven and what he looked like.
"Thou hast been in Eden, the garden of God; every
precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond the beryl,
the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald and the carbuncle, and
gold. "
These are some of
the most precious stones known to man. These are the covering, the clothing of
Lucifer. He was in Eden the garden of God. Some believe this Garden of Eden
different than the Eden of Adam for this garden had precious stones did not
exist in Adam's Eden.
"... the workmanship
of thy tabrets
and of thy flutes prepared in thee in the day thou was created.''
Please note that
musical instruments were built right in him. This angel, Lucifer,
sounded like an organ speaking. He was a living, walking organ. For this reason
we connect Lucifer as a leader of
worship in heaven. Now we understand clearly why he ruined music.
Lucifer a Prophet
"Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth." (verse 14) The division of angels in heaven known as cherubims are worship
leaders. Lucifer was a cherubim worship leader.
He was the
anointed cherub. The word "anointed" speaks of him being a prophet.
"Thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast
walked up and down in the midst
of the stones of fire.'' (verse 14)
He was connected
to the worship leaders, the anointed, was upon the holy mountain... speaking of
the government of God of which Lucifer had an important part. He walked up down
in the midst of the stones of fire... this is the place of the presence of God.
When the elders of Israel saw Moses with the Lord, they saw stones of fire in
front of His throne. Lucifer had access to a high spot in heaven, the
presence of God.
"Thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou was
created..."
The enemy of our souls, Satan, was at one time perfect in
his ways, a perfect angelic being until... "Iniquity
was found in thee. " (verse 15)
Sin was born in the heart of Lucifer.
“By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled
the midst of thee with violence, and thou has sinned; therefore, I will cast
thee as profane out of the mountain of God, and I will destroy thee, 0 covering
cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.'' (Ezekiel 28:16)
Lucifer used his position and brought destruction upon himself. He was
in charge of the earth. He was spokesman for God on earth. He gave worship back
to God from earth. He used his position to retain the worship that was due to
God Almighty. He made merchandise of his position.
"They have
filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned."
"Thine heart
was lifted up because of thy beauty; thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason
of thy brightness; I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before
kings, that they may behold thee." (Ezekiel 28:17)
Lucifer a Priest
"Thou has defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine
iniquities... “(Verse 18)
Lucifer had sanctuaries, which means he was a priest. He lost his high
position in heaven because of sin.
I will only give you some scripture and discuss a little
of it and then you study more and go deeper in the Word and find out more for
yourself.
“How art thou
fallen from heaven, 0 Lucifer, son of the morning" The word "Lucifer"
means the "shining one," or "light bearer." Imagine, he was
the light bearer and he lost that position.
“How art thou
cut down to the ground, which didst wed the nations!"
(Isaiah 14:12)
Lucifer the King
"I will
exalt my throne above the stars of God... “(Isaiah 14:13)
Remember in
Ezekiel 28, I mentioned he was a prophet because he was anointed; he was a
priest because he had sanctuaries; and now, the Bible declares he was a king
because had a throne. He will exalt his throne above the stars of God. He ruled
this earth and would exalt his throne above the stars, the angels of God.
Lucifer's Five "I Wills"
Pride enters into
the heart of one of God's mightiest create and causes his destruction and made
Lucifer into the devil.
“For thou hast
said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven..." which means, when
he rebelled and sin entered into his heart, he was not in heaven, but upon the
earth. Rebellion began on earth and
Lucifer wanted to invade heaven and sit in the place which belonged to God
Almighty. (Isa 14:13)
"I will
exalt my throne above the stars of God..." (Isa 14:13)
"I will sit
upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides
of the north..." (Isaiah 14:13)
Location of Heaven
That is a very
interesting statement. Whenever we see heaven in scripture, it is seen in the
sides of the north, or in the north.
“Great is the
Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his
holiness.
Beautiful for
situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion,
on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. "(Psalms 48:1,2)
The city of the
great King is in the north.
"For
promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south."(Psalms
75:6)
Promotion
cometh from the Lord. The north is
never mentioned, but the Lord is mentioned.
"He
stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth on
nothing." (Job 26:7)
Lucifer wanted to
sit where God is and wanted his throne to be in heaven, not on earth.
"I will
ascend above the heights of the clouds..." which means he was below the clouds on earth.
(Isaiah 14:14)
"I will be
like the most High... “and here is a powerful statement. The name "Most
High" in the Bible is the word "El Eloim" which not only means
"most high," but also means "the possessor of heaven and
earth." Imagine, that a creature, a created
angel, wanted to be possessor of heaven and earth. This is why he failed and
became the devil.
"Yet thou
shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."(Isaiah 14:15)
What did Lucifer
want? He wanted to sit where God sits. He wanted the place that no angel is
allowed to share and no human is allowed to experience... and that place is the
place of the glory of God. Whenever we see "glory" mentioned it
always speaks of the dwelling place of the Godhead. The word "glory"
is the Hebrew word, ' 'kabod,'' which means the
dwelling place. It is the dwelling place of the Trinity. (John 17:4-5) (Acts 7:55)
(John 17:24)
The day will come
when we will stand before the Lord a we will stand before His throne and see
Him face to face.
The Sin of Jealousy
Lucifer did not
want to get closer because of love. He wanted to get closer because of
jealousy. The first sin we know of this universe is the sin of jealousy. Satan
was not satisfied w just getting closer, he wanted to sit on the throne. He actually wanted to be one with the
Godhead. No creature is to be allow that position. God
said, "I will not share my glory..." That place is reserved only for
God and Him alone. He alone is the Almighty.
The first sin is not the sin of rebellion, nor the sin of pride but the sin
of jealousy. Lucifer became jealous of God and His position.
In Isaiah 14, we
see the heaven, the earth and the clouds already in existence. They were
already created by God. Lucifer the ruler of this earth looked up into heaven
and became jealous of God. This would bring about his fall. Heavenly powers were
placed over this earth all under the rule of Lucifer. The heavenly powers he
ruled over rebelled with him, and the Bible says that one-third of the angels
rebelled with him. God will punish those heavenly powers,
(called "high ones"), when He returns. We are fighting against
heavenly powers.
‘‘For
we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places."
(Ephesians 6:12)
Satan Thrown Out of Heaven
The scriptures
tell us of three heavens. The first heaven is found in the Book of Genesis,
chapter 1, verse 8. The second heaven is found in the book of Ephesians,
chapter 1, verses 20 and 21. There are other scriptures that mention these
heavens, but I'm only giving you one of them. The third heaven is told about in
II Corinthians 12, verse 2, where Paul said he was caught up to the third
heaven.
When Lucifer fell
and was cast out of heaven, he was thrown out of the third heaven. The Lord
Jesus saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning. (Luke 10:18) The Lord simply
meant He saw Satan fall from the third heaven as lightning.
Right now the
devil is still in the heaven lies. His place today is in the second heaven. He
does not really live on earth, he visits here a lot. He rules from his place of
authority, the heaven lies. When asked where he had been, the devil in the Book
of Job tells God he was visiting the earth and walking all over it. The Bible
tells us that during the great tribulation Satan will be thrown out of the
second heaven.
The devil fell
from the third heaven, but he is still in the second heaven today. His
heavenly powers rebelled and fell with him. He now makes the heavens and the
earth the scene of his activity. The original earth, once ruled by the Devil,
experiences the fall and ruin and is destroyed because of his sin. Lucifer, the
archangel, becomes the devil, meaning the accuser, the slanderer. The accuser
becomes the enemy of God and the enemy of man.
The Word of God
tells us many interesting and revealing things about the devil. He is a real
person. (Job 1:6-12) an angel with a body. Remember,
angels have bodies Chronicles 21:1) (Job 2:1-7) (Psalms 109:6) (Zechariah3
(Matthew 4:1-11) (Revelation 10:1-3) The devil is the f of liars, a murderer
and the wicked one. (John 8:44) cunning. (II
Corinthians 2:11) He is a coward. He will not attack you when you're strong,
only when you're weak. (James 4:7)
The
Bible says Satan is a thief, a robber and a killer. (10:10) He is proud. (I
Timothy 3:6) He is deceitful. (II Corinthians 11:14) He is also cruel and
fierce. (I Peter 5:8,9
(But remember, he
is already a defeated foe. The reason Jesus died on the cross for you and for
me is to defeat and destroy Satan and his power.)
