Jesus is the Light of the World

The Very Reverend Bishop Kevin Jevon Chambers
Senior Pastor-Diocesan Prelate

Pentecostal Spiritual Assemblies of Christ- International
~ Third Episcopal Diocese ~

Reverend Kevin Jevon Chambers was born November 9, 1970 to the union of Nathaniel and Gloria Chambers in Chicago IL. He is the oldest of four siblings. Reverend Chambers received his formal education in the parochial school systems in the city of Chicago IL.

Reverend Chambers was spiritually nurtured at the First Church of Deliverance under the pastorates of the late Reverend Clarence H. Cobbs and Reverend Eugene D. Gray.

In 1986, Reverend Chambers was selected as one of the "100 Outstanding Christian Men in the Midwest" and in 1988 he was selected as one of the "25 Outstanding Christian Talented Men in the Midwest." Both awards were given by the Midwestern Baptist Laymen's Fellowship.

In 1990 Reverend Chambers was added to the body of Christ at the Temple of St. Jude Spiritual Church of Christ under the leadership of Archbishop Arthur L. Posey. Reverend Chambers faithfully served as an acolyte, even after becoming an ordained minister in 1994.

In 1991 migrated from Chicago IL to Detroit MI. Within the year Reverend Chambers was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Sheresse Hatcher. Together they share three beautiful gifts from God: De'Ante; Branden; and Semaja;

1n 1992 shortly after receiving his First Time Preaching License Reverend Chambers served as Pulpit Assistant at the Good Shepherd Church in Grand Rapids MI. under the pastorate of Bishop William Ozier.

In 1994 after receiving his ordination, Reverend Chambers returned full-time back at the Temple of St. Jude and in 1995 took on the responsibility as Youth Pastor of the church and Treasurer of the Minister's Board.

In 1998, Bishop William Ozier appointed Reverend Chambers Interim Pastor at St. Matthew's Temple-Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ. The congregation and church officials were so impressed with his service, conduct and leadership that they unanimously elected him to be their Pastor and Spiritual Leader.

While getting acquainted with pastoring, Bishop Freddie Simmons (State Overseer) then appointed Reverend Chambers as State Superintendent.

In July 2002 at the 77th Annual Convention of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Reverend Chambers was elected to the office of Bishop. On November 8, 2002 at St. Mary's Temple of Peace (Grand Rapids MI) Pastor Chambers was consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop. Reverend Kevin Chambers currently serves as Diocesan Prelate for the Third Episcopal Diocese of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Inc. Reverend Chambers is the Founder and Executive Director of Benigno Agape (Benevolent Love Outreach) a non-profit organization. In February 2002, Benigno Agape opened its Food Bank and Clothes Rack for the first time. Their goal is to feed some 10,000 homes within the year and to clothe the naked. The mission of Benigno Agape is to provide a continuum of care that begins at each individual's point of immediate need and moves them along with appropriate resources from Crisis through Recovery and Discipleship to Integration back into family and society.

Reverend Chambers hopes to build strategic partnerships with complementary community organizations for the further education, job training, healthcare and other long-term needs and with local churches for their ongoing spiritual development.

Reverend Chambers' model of compassion is Jesus Christ. When He lived on earth, He (Jesus) reached out to the poor and hurting and taught His followers to do likewise. Christ told us in Matthew 25 that His true followers would have a concern for the needy: to visit the sick, clothe the naked and feed the hungry. He said that whenever we show compassion to the "least" of these we are in fact doing it unto Him.

Reverend Chambers is truly a dedicated man of God. Faithful and true to his calling, standing firmly on the Word of God and affirms with conviction that, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall not prosper; and every tongue that riseth against thee in judgement, thou shalt condemn…"

Contrary to popular demand Reverend Chambers along with St. Matthews Temple-Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ will always and forever be:

A Spiritual Church…On a Spiritual Foundation…Walking in the Supernatural…

    Objective in Ministry
To preach, teach, heal, prophesy, and advance spiritual truth and theology. To create a wholistic holy process in which lives are: regenerated, nurtured, and empowered to release God-given anointed abilities, and talents that will transform that portion of the world that has been assigned to my oversight thereby, establishing the kingdom of God and thus, preparing the earth for the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    I therefore endeavor to:
  • Make disciples
  • Nurture disciples
  • Train disciples
  • Release disciples
  • Oversee disciples

My mission is to provide ministry to the total individual. I endeavor to provide a balanced ministry, with emphasis on praise, worship, teaching, healing and deliverance. Also, it is my mandate to bring hope to hopeless situations; to be a beacon of light in the community; to be the catalyst to launch the people of God into their destiny.

  • And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth." (Ecclesiastes 12:9-10)
